Our purpose of this blog is to optimize true attainment of “Quality” of care and services in the Senior Living sector of healthcare across the USA.

Experiences will vary as we review various aspects and challenges sPoKeN through written words from individuals based on their experience and their connection to Senior Living facilities. It may be family, friend, employee, employer owner, coalition. This journey will travel down many lanes for discussion; and to start the journey we must gain insight of how to attain our purpose of this blog.

Before we go any further it is imperative to know our goal “quality” and have a clear and consistent collaborative understanding of what is “quality” in healthcare to optimize attainability.

Merriam Webster dictionary defines quality as “degree of excellence”.

According to health.gov healthcare “quality” is a broad term that encompasses many aspects of patient care. Quality health care is care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable.

The World Health Organization (WHO) definition of “Quality” of care is the degree to which health services for individuals and populations increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes. WHO also notes care is care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable.

Our first sector for the written spoken words of experiences will be the alarming Nursing Homes, Skilled Rehabilitations & Assisted Livings in the United States. It is almost inevitable for this blog to not impact an individual in some form or fashion.

Nursing Homes and Assisted Livings are long term care facilities for individuals who are no longer capable of being in their homes for various reasons. Skilled rehabilitations are included in this sector of the blog by default as they are often times a unit inside a nursing home with shared care and services. The option may arise abruptly with minimal decision making opportunities or future planning. Either way the overall expectation is to receive “quality” in the care and services.

However; we are connected to the these healthcare sectors we are impacted by high turnover rates, increased litigations, allegations, burn out, cuss outs, threats, medication errors and lets not fail to mention “staffing challenges”. With all the severity that arises, how can we begin to imagine having high hopes of receiving or delivering “quality” in most of these settings. Ratings and reviews are widely indicated to help in our decision making from job searching to placement. But what do they really say?


Marketing material presents with beautiful pictures?? Healthcare websites advising what to look for when you tour??
Before we go any further it is imperative to know our goal “quality” and have a clear and consistent collaborative understanding of what is “quality” in healthcare to optimize attainability.
